The Good It sounds like a good offer over the phone....
The Bad EF's Acting Director of Teaching in fact assured the incoming teachers that there was only 80 minutes travel time, twice a week,  which is at least misrepresenting the working conditions of the position. He also states that good affordable housing is available in the Pudong but when you go there you find a reasonable apartment is much more expensive than he had suggested, rendering the offer no better, sometimes worse than an average university but with many more hours teaching, large classes (sometimes 38) and an extra 40 hours of travel a month.
Overall EF's Acting Director of Teaching asks you to travel ten hours a week to three different campuses then fires teachers if they are too negative about the extra time spent on public buses. Housing is unaffordable and nothing like what was represented in the sales pitch to get the experienced teachers to accept the position. Teachers are cowered into accepting the position under threats of firing in the first month without notice. If fact one teacher was fired when he found out that the Acting Director of Teaching had worked at the distant campus himself and knew full well the total hours on public transport and the horrendous traffic conditions in the Pudong. Stay away from this one... if you enjoy university teaching this one is definately not for you. You will pay for your own overpriced apartment and be asked to travel 40 hours a month on top of your standard 100 teaching hours. It is far more like a corporate training school position with lots of travel.
