I'm finishing up two years here at Huang He College of Science and Technology and, while it's far from perfect, the school and its staff have allowed me to have the experience in China I'd hoped for. I stayed here two years because of the relaxed teaching atmosphere and the friends I've made here, but the paid summer holiday helped. I can't disagree with many of the things in the previous post, only give my perspective on them. It's true that Huang Ke Da's students scored poorly on the college entrance exam and that their English is usually low. Students want to learn but don't want to be in class: same story everywhere. There was little-to-no training. I got a schedule and a book the day before classes started. The benefit here is being able to teach how you choose, as long as you’re comfortable learning on the job. But hearing more about expectations from the administration and experiences from returning teachers before classes start would be beneficial. The administration is…mysterious. The buffer between us and them is the staff of the International Affairs Office who catch all the crap going both ways, from admin to teachers and teachers to admin. They are very friendly and helpful, but the most common problem is fighting through the bureaucracy to talk to someone who makes decisions. As long as you follow the basic, reasonable rules (come to class on time, don’t show movies every day) the freedom in the classroom is a big plus for me. Dealing with the administration can be annoying at times but, looking at the big picture, you can be reasonably sure that this school will not do anything to screw you over or ruin your time in China. On the contrary, there have been several instances where they have helped teachers out of jams. Any complaints I have about the school or Zhengzhou seem small in comparison with the amazing experience I’ve had here. Any questions, please email me. Think twice before teaching at this college

| The Good | New dormitory for foreign teachers, holiday pay (Mid-Autumn & Spring Festivals, Summer leave)and well-behaved students. |
| The Bad | Administration is lazy and inept. Always late with pay and lack communication skills. Horrible planning skills. The campus is on the south end of the city center which takes about 45 minutes by bus. Very few cultural activities and a high level of air pollution here. Also, they dock your pay for sick days. |
| Overall | A private university with average students (many have failed their national exams) who lack intellectual curiosity and academic ambition coupled with an inexperienced and weak administration makes for a mediocre teaching experience. |
