The Good Salary is okay.
Students are very nice.
The Bad Administration is unresponsive. Often, they ignore my verbal requests. Sometimes they will respond.
I work in the International School. Our students wish to go abroad after their second year. The school split the students into advanced and lower-level, based on an entrance exam. The new dean will not speak to the English teachers, although he has spoken/met with Chinese teachers teaching the same courses. The school told us to switch textbooks with three weeks to go before the final exam. The advanced students have had the textbook from a previous semester; the lower-level students don't have the book, and no one can tell them how/where to get it. My book is a student edition (heavily used), and there is no audio CD for the listening and speaking sections (what I teach). There is no curriculum, because the students complained that the book was boring, and we had to abandon the old textbook. The school continually reorganizes departments and the associated curriculum suffers (because there is no course objective). Students typically miss all of the Oral English classes because they are not required, and the school always passes them anyway.
Overall If you desire to motivate students and help them to achieve goals related to improving English ability, you will be very unhappy with the resistance from administrative hostility and inertia.
