Stay away from Aston School

| The Good | My visa (I can't say the same for others) was sorted, no problems. |
| The Bad |
Since Aston doesn't make it known which schools are franchised and which schools aren't, I got stuck in one of the horrible franchised schools. The "headmaster", Mr. Yin, cared nothing about educating children and everything about making more money, many times at the expense of the children. Hardly anything in the contract was provided, including the details of the accommodation, free Chinese lessons, and vacation time. During one of our many arguments, our foreign manager said, "well...You are right, just according to this piece of paper here..." while pointing to the contract. Also, Aston never tells you, while on the phone or in the contract, but they have a "foreigner-for-hire" policy, so they are able to rent you out to local businesses and public schools to teach. If you want to teach in a business or a public school, there are plenty of other places to apply. Like I've said, my visa was sorted, but several of my friends had moderate to severe difficulties. Mr. Yin put off sorting one friend's until the last minute, then forced him to lie to the police, telling them he broke his leg on his way to the police station. He then made this poor guy walk (with a limp; you can't make this stuff up) to the station, stopping along the way to get fake medical papers off the black market. |
| Overall | Within a month, four out of six teachers (including me) quit. I know it's difficult to live in China, but those difficulties would have been much more bearable if only Aston had lived up to its contract. When it was violated over and over by Aston School, it made me think they had tricked me into coming to China. |
