The Good Uhm, not too much good to think of. I suppose it must have a few hidden nuggets of goodness mixed in amongst all the muck.
The Bad Moderators as regular posters. Abusive, much profanity, racism, name-calling, threatening overtones (if one doesn't agree with a few of the long-time regulars). Not really one of those sites one should visit if one wants "help" navigating the ESL world.
Overall I don't really see the point of this website. It purports to be there to help those in need who are in the ESL profession (or at least considering the ESL profession), but it's really just a handful of regulars that throw mud at anyone that doesn't agree with their worldview on the way things should be. There are plenty other forums around. Do a search and visit one of those sites instead. Sadly, however, some of the "regulars" on eslteachersboard are now bleeding out onto other sites spreading the same kinds of filth and denigration.

Overall Like the OP says this is a poor site. I think there probably is some good info there somewhere but it is lost amongst the amount of rubbish which is being posted. Better off looking elsewhere.

Overall This board is supposed to be for the benefit of ESL teachers seeking employment,a place where people can post up reviews and have discussions in regard to the good and the bad schools out there. It has failed miserably.

After spending a week looking around I quickly came to the realization that this board is nothing more than a place for idiots to antagonize and outright abuse people for the sheer hell of it.

Nearly every discussion about an employer I came across was a negative one and on top of that had exactly the same people posting. Are we really expected to believe that a small handful of people have really worked at nearly each and every single school throughout Asia!!! Further that they had a bad experience at them all. It doesn't take much to work out what this place is about.

Some of the comments being made are completely uncalled for and offensive not only to individuals but to Asian people in general. I read comments about peoples sexual preferences, eating habits, appearance and pretty much anything else which could be used as some form of abuse, very little in the way of factual information and what was there lost credibility because of vile posts being made by the same person.

How anyone is supposed to use this site in order to help them make an informed decision when looking for an employer is beyond me in fact it is more likely that people would choose to try out a school because they simply could not believe what they were reading.

There are threats of legal action from employers, something I believe to be more than likely directed at the generally abusive and libelous comments being made as opposed to anything else and anyone that I saw had posted up anything positive to say about an employer was very quickly flamed and abused by the same group of people, including it seems moderators, a very one sided site indeed.

This site should be shut down, it was clearly started to be helpful and has gotten lost along the way, really lost!!!

When I attempted to give my opinion on this and posted my message never made the board yet when you look through other posts you will see all manner of profanity and disgusting abuse which clearly shows the moderators are ensuring that only a certain kind of posts gets on there.

I have emailed the company which they use for the board asking them to look at what is going on there. I would recommend that anyone looking for useful information on schools to look elsewhere, there are plenty of sites around that do not have to stoop to outright abuse in order to make a point.
